Dash Scarborough

Most of the software I build is for people who work with pictures. For four and a half years I was the lead engineer on Jellyfish Manager, the admin software for the shared storage that video post-production teams edit from. I’ve written GLSL shaders since 2017. Today, through my studio Scry Labs, I build software to order and help post teams work out where AI actually saves them time.

Software, built to order

Small, finished tools for one team or one job: internal apps, browser tools, render and media pipelines. I build with a fleet of coding agents and design the checks that catch their mistakes, so a working version arrives fast.

Footage workflow audits

Two weeks, fixed scope, for post houses and in-house video teams. I map your work from camera card to delivery, test which AI features you already pay for, and hand over three ranked use cases with build-or-buy, cost, risk and a 90-day pilot plan. If the honest answer is “buy nothing,” the report says so.

Remote. Your NDA signed before day one. I never touch client media. Ask about an audit

ShaderKit's editor: GLSL code on the left, a live render of a spiral nebula shader on the right.

ShaderKit

A GLSL shader studio in the browser. Write and preview live, then render to video on cloud GPUs. An AI edit mode proposes diffs you accept or reject, and agents get their own API. I built it and I run it, alone.

Jellyfish Manager

The customer-facing admin software for Jellyfish, LumaForge’s shared-storage servers for video post-production teams: users, permissions, networking and system health. I designed it as the product’s own management system, in place of the off-the-shelf admin interface it shipped with, owned it end to end, ran the product’s devops, and managed its three-person engineering team. OWC acquired LumaForge in 2021 and still ships it.

YADA: a sunset image dithered to a four-colour Game Boy palette, with palette and dither controls on the right.

YADA

A realtime dither and GIF studio. Drop in an image or video, pick a palette and a dither, export GIF, PNG or MP4. It runs entirely in the browser; nothing is uploaded.
